Because we do not forget where we come from: Today's internationally positioned production company ibb has its origins in trade and service. Our customers have always benefited from fast delivery, short response times and a full-service philosophy based on three creeds: Precision, progression, empathy. 1985
Herbert Zikoll established ibb GmbH in Lohmar in 1985, initially as a trading company. First sharpening jobs from the machining industry cause ibb to purchase the company Schleiferei Jahn, thus enabling the company to carry out these jobs with its own resources. This also marked the launch of ibb's cutting tools: In order to meet the growing demands on cutting operations, the company added several CNC machines to the existing, manual machinery.
1992
As industrial customers' demand for cutting tools of convincing quality increased, ibb decided to produce their own milling cutters and drills. These were developed in-house on the basis of customer requirements. Over time, a whole range of tools emerges, each optimized for material and milling performance. To simplify the assignment of tools to their application purposes, ibb introduced "Multi Colored Heavy Metal", a marking system that helps prevent application errors in advance.
2008
After Tobias Zikoll joined the company, the second generation entered the company. Handover of management follows four years later. By this time, ibb already had a large customer base in the steel construction, mold technology, automotive, and aerospace industries. Among its customers were also foundries. The dental sector is a new addition. Dental laboratories and milling centers increasingly require precision tools for their own machines.
2011
In order to expand production capacities, ibb moves to the new plant in Rösrath. As a medium-sized family business, the company delivers worldwide to customers in a wide range of industries. In addition to producing and selling its own portfolio of solid carbide end mills, the company also manufactures special tools - including for OEM products. The field of precision machining in medicine continues to grow; the business area is experiencing increasing automation and CAD/CAM technology is becoming indispensable.
2021
For the continuous improvement of product quality and as an interface from the grinding machine directly to the process, ibb establishes its own research and development department. At the same time, the production of micro tools and the dental and medical technology sectors is continuously expanded. During a comprehensive sustainability strategy, the production site in Rösrath takes the path to CO₂-neutral production. The goal is to produce a completely emission- and climate-neutral tool.
